Description

SS-31 50 mg: research peptide

Buy SS-31 50 mg for laboratory research, supplied as lyophilized powder in one boxed 3 mL vial.

SS-31 is a synthetic aromatic-cationic tetrapeptide investigated in mitochondrial membrane research. Its four-residue reference sequence is D-Arg-dimethylTyr-Lys-Phe-NH2, including an amidated terminus. The peptide is also described in the literature as elamipretide.

Choose the material and presentation

Choose this 50 mg presentation for its labeled material amount. Other catalog sizes are SS-31 10 mg, SS-31 30 mg. All three are single-vial presentations; a larger amount does not establish higher analytical purity or a different biological effect.

The 3 mL figure is container capacity, not supplied liquid volume or concentration. Confirm the complete chemical form, including any salt or counterion, before selecting a molecular weight for preparation calculations. A literature sequence is a reference, not independent verification of a commercial lot.

Cardiolipin and mitochondrial research

Birk and colleagues’ original study examined model lipid membranes and mitochondrial preparations from rat kidneys. Cardiolipin is a membrane lipid; cytochrome c participates in electron transfer. The experiments investigated how the peptide interacts with these systems.

Fluorescence experiments used a labeled analogue, while separate NMR and turbidity measurements examined SS-31 itself. The results supported interaction with cardiolipin-containing membranes. Distinguishing those methods avoids treating every signal as a direct measurement of the unmodified peptide.

The researchers also reported increased oxygen consumption during ADP-stimulated respiration and greater ATP production in fresh isolated mitochondria. Resting respiration did not increase in the same way. These findings describe the tested preparations and conditions; they are not a guarantee of performance for a supplied vial or an outcome in people.

Product records and laboratory handling

Open COA & Documents for the available batch reports and product files. Match each certificate of analysis to the selected presentation and lot. Do not transfer results from another package size without a verified report match.

Identity, chromatographic purity and measured content are separate analytical properties. Check what was actually tested. Use material-specific storage and laboratory handling information; a general guide does not establish an expiry period, solvent compatibility or prepared-solution stability.
